Meet Phil Watson (Creative & Brand Strategist)

Give us your elevator pitch for you:
I’m the guy who sometimes looks like a bike courier but might just deliver the sharpest thinking you’re going to see. While wearing shorts.

In 25 words or less, tell us about a project that you’ve been proud to be a part of?
‘One Small Tap, A Giant Step For Mankind’ for ING Bank. Launching their Android Pay facility by helping disabled kids walk with every tap.

If money were no object, what would you be doing with your life?
Something that helps. Something creative. Possibly both at the same time.

Too hard. Best I can do with thesaurus help is ‘artful actor’!

If you could tell past you one thing, what would it be?
Get comfortable with emotions and uncertainty.

What about future you?
I’m working hard to make you proud of me.

If you could snap your fingers and remove one thing from digital marketing and advertising, what would it be?
Mobile banners. They’re annoying, ineffective and they make people hate ads even more.

Is there anyone you look up to within our industry?
I have huge respect for anyone who has set up on their own and made it happen, that goes double if it has a positive impact on the wider world

What does a perfect day at Circul8 look like? (We’ll try and make it happen.)
A great idea landed and approved. Some laughs. Home in time to hang out with my kids.

What is your spirit vegetable?
Seaweed.

Help launch the first-ever Dan Murphy’s Decoded Wine Award while breaking through to the young & premium drinkers of Australia.

If money were no object, what would you be doing with your life?
A (theatre) painter.

Egos, the big egos, let’s remove them and retain this industry as collaborative and creative as possible.
