Pinterest is turning your travel ‘Pinspiration’ into reality, by adding a new type of pin called ‘Place Pins.’
If you’re anything like us, you’ll spend hours on Pinterest looking at images of places we’d like to visit one day, virtually planning your next holiday. In fact, every day people Pin about 1.5 million places and there are over 750 million destination pins on Pinterest, so ‘Place Pins’ are the next obvious step to corner the trip planning market.
These ‘Place Pins’ allow users to map the location of the items and places you pin. Whether it’s a collection of travel recommendations, a restaurant, an amazing location or the shop where a product can be found, you can now add a specific location and add these items to a map.
You can also add extra contact details like addresses, phone numbers pulled in directly from Foursquare…etc making travel planning that much easier!
Pinterest has even set up a feed dedicated to Place Pins(piration) here showing you how notable travel brands like AirBNB, Fodors and Conde Nast Traveler are utilizing the new feature.
This is a great feature and will be particularly relevant for travel brands wanting to increase their offerings on Pinterest. Watch this space for some changing Pin-boards…
