Each week we’re putting together our best interweb finds, from brilliant advertising to clever new technology and our favourite oddities.
Circul8’s Top 5 Digital Discoveries This Week:
1. Our Favourite Ad: Hello Flo’s Camp Gyno
Hilarious and refreshing take on that time of month aimed at (but not only for) teenagers. This ad brilliantly breaks the rules of traditional menstruation advertising (no blue liquid or horse-riding here) with the help of a frank 12 year old.
Hello Flo (described as ‘Santa for your vagina’), comfortably removes the clinical awkwardness of every menstruation advert that’s come before, it’s actually relatable. They make the hardest part of early puberty, the first period, not only OK and unthreatening, but actually cool!
2. The Best In Music: Prince’s meme-like artwork
Who knew Prince had a sense of humour? The official cover art for his new single ‘Breakfast Can Wait’ is an image of Dave Chapelle playing Prince in a sketch from ‘The Chappelle Show’. Yes, it’s real. How much of a boss is Prince? The new cover art has been embraced by Prince and Chappelle fans alike, gaining thousands of retweets and kudos.
Here’s that original parody skit from Dave Chapelle that the cover comes from: Dave Chappelle as Prince
3. Our Favourite New Meme: Hot dogs or legs?
Are those the pins of a goddess or mystery-meat filled sausages? Sometimes we can’t tell…A perfect parody of those goddamn beach selfies that females take of their sunbaking thighs!
Come summer we’ll definitely be trying this with a pair of rubbery frankfurters, hashtagging #legsorhotdogs…see the blog here!
4. Amazing Tech: IKEA’s Augmented Reality Catalog
According to IKEA 14% of people have bought wrong-sized piece of furniture and more than 70 percent of people don’t know how big their homes really are. The solution? Their new catalog app uses augmented reality to virtually place furniture in your room so you can plan your purchases more effectively. The app allows you to actually see how you like their furniture as part of your house without even leaving home! This handy app will either save you time & money or turn you into an obsessive wannabe interior decorator. Genius!
